Frequently Asked Questions
How do I keep my Driver CPC qualification valid?
To keep your CPC valid, you must complete 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years. Once you complete the required hours, your Driver CPC card is renewed, allowing you to continue driving professionally without interruption.
How do I apply for or renew my Driver CPC card?
After completing your periodic training hours, your training provider uploads your record to the DVSA system. You can then apply for a new or renewed Driver CPC card online through the official government service, which will be sent to your registered address.
What happens if I don’t complete my CPC training on time?
If you do not complete your 35 hours within the 5-year period, your Driver CPC will expire. This means you will not be legally allowed to drive professionally until you complete the required training again.
Do I need to pass an exam for periodic Driver CPC training?
No, there is no formal exam for periodic CPC training. You just need to attend and complete the approved training sessions. Once completed, your hours are automatically recorded towards your CPC renewal.
Who provides approved Driver CPC training courses?
Approved Driver CPC courses are delivered by training providers who are registered with the DVSA. These providers follow set guidelines to ensure the training meets official standards and counts towards your CPC hours.
